A wide selection of books and journals that examine MS the disease, living with MS, research
and symptoms.
MS Resource Centre Book Reviews
This page has a selection of books that have been reviewed by the users of the MS Resource
Centre website. There are over 10 books that have reviewed, including such titles as, From MS to
Wellness, Me and My Shadow - The impact of MS, Coping with MS - Practical Day-to-Day Advice. Basic
details on the book are given, plus a review, further information on where you can buy the books is
also available.
Amazon
This leading website has over 400 books available to buy on MS. The areas covered are
extensive and include diet, newly diagnosed, alternative medicine, positive living, and having a
baby.
MS World Books
Although an American site, this offers a huge selection of books that have been reviews and
that you can buy through Amazon.com (who deliver to the UK). It can offer you an alternative view.
There are about 30 books reviewed and these include: Climbing Higher by Montel Williams, Coping and
Prevailing with MS and other Life Struggles, Women Living with MS, Dare to Dream, 300 tips for
making life easier with MS.

Trust
The Trust has a number of recent publications that you can download or order through the
site. Titles include MS Explained, MS: What Does it Mean for Me, and Exercises for People with
MS.
MS
Ireland
This is a large database of books available about MS. It is sorted in alphabetical order by
author and includes such titles as Coping with MS, MS and Sexuality, Living Well with MS, A Guide
for the Newly Diagnosed, How Squiggy Caught MS and Didn't Tell Anybody, MS at Your Fingertips. They
represent personal opinions, experiences and information on a various aspects of the disease.
Magazines:
MS in Focus
This magazine from the MS International Federations is a bi-annual magazine that focuses on
various areas of MS such as how it impacts your family or specific symptoms such as cognitive or
bladder problems. It has a truly international feel and a great source of information. You are able
to subscribe or download (PDF) it.
Open
Door
This is a quarterly newsletter produced by the MS Trust that covers a wide variety of
subjects and is a very useful source of information. There are articles covering fatigue
management, MS pregnancy and parenthood, alternative therapies, direct payments, wellness, positive
strategies and sexual relations.
MS Society Recommendations
A list of recommended journals from the MS Society: they include caring, disability and MS
journals. Plus the MS Society's own magazine, MS Matters, which is sent to its 50,000 members
throughout the UK.
Gay and Lesbian Newsletter
This is the newsletter for GLAMS, a support group for lesbians, gay men and transgender
people with MS. It gives details on what is happening in the group and other general news.

The Young Person's Guide to MS

This is a new booklet produced by the MS Trust aimed at young people, aged 10 - 15, who have
a parent with MS. It aims to answer some questions they may have and offers advice on coping
with a parent with MS.

Four new booklets in the MS Essentials range were launched at the convention, these are on
Women’s issues, pain & sensory symptoms, complimentary medicines and support for people
severely affected by MS.

Pamphlets available from the MS Trust are free and truly varied. This index page allows you
to order or download them. Titles include MS Explained, My Dad's Got MS, Talking About MS with your
Family and Friends, Tips for Living with MS, Pain and Disease Modifying Drugs.
MS Society Pamphlets
With the MS Society publications shop you can pick an area of interest such as symptoms,
carers, everyday living or MS the disease and order (or download) a huge selection of pamphlets
available. There are leaflets on being newly diagnosed, taking out insurance, symptoms, benefits,
disease modifying therapies and even what to put on your admission form for a hospital visit.
MS Resource
Centre
They offer a variety of leaflets covering alternative therapies, diet, drug therapies, types
of MS, fatigue, diagnosis and counselling. You can print them off the site or the Centre can post
them to you.
MS International Federation
They do not offer many publications but the ones they do are very comprehensive. These
include MS: The Guide to Treatment and Management of MS, which is an examination & evaluation
of the most frequently used treatments for MS. There are also details on the 'How To' series, such
as how to launch a support group or campaign. All the publications are available to download, but
be warned some are very large documents and will take time to download.
MS Society Ireland
There is a large list of the useful pamphlets available from the Irish MS Society including
special children's publications. How to Talk about MS with your children, Don't Lose your Balance,
which is aimed at teenagers, and an activity book on MS for 6-12 year olds called Myelin is Getting
on my Nerves. Other adult titles include Taking Control of your Emotions, What Everyone Should Know
About Depression, MS, Incontinence and Sexuality and MS.
MS & Parenting
Although this booklet is from the Australian MS Society its aim is to assist parents who
have MS by offering advice on how to conserve energy and simplify work procedures. It is available
to download and provides a detailed advice on a wide variety of practical issues such as picking
equipment, bathing your child, nappies and behaviour management.
Just Diagnosed (in various
languages)
One of the MS Society's leading publications, Just Diagnosed - An Introduction to MS, leaflet
is now available to download in a choice of languages: Welsh, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati and
Hindi.
Legal Rights
You can find out what your legal rights are in relation to a variety of issues such as
community care and welfare benefits. There are 24 different leaflets available to order from the
Community Legal Service which should answer any of your questions on employment, welfare,
disability issues, employment, debt and even family mediation.
Carers
The leaflets from the Princess Royal Trust for Carers are all available to download. They
offer a good selection of publications on several topics including Unseen and Unheard: Young
Carers, findings from the Carers Speak Out Project, Carers Count, the Carers Health Survey and a
Good Practice Guide.
