Carers
Speak Out
In 1999 the UK Government launched its national strategy for carers, with the aim of
widening the focus of health and social services to include patients and carers. This site details
the findings from a project in June 2002, which was undertaken in order to see how the situation
had changed in the previous 3 years. It contains the conclusions from a survey of 3,800 carers into
the impact of carer assessments, the health of carers, NHS organisations and information needs.
Carers Online
This practical and valuable site offers information on where to find help, government
benefits, news, publications and a directory of support organisations in your area.
The Princess
Royal Trust for Carers
This site aimed at carers is full of help, information and support. There are links to all
sorts of sites, from support organisations to shopping. There is advice on work, taking time off,
finances, mobility and various aspects of caring. Plus information on Government benefits, carer
assessments and free publications. An online carers survey is also available to fill in.
